THE LAST LECTURE by Randy Pausch. (note: Randy Pausch died this
July 25) Humorous and advice-filled lecture for his students,
but especially for his wife and 3 small children after he was
diagnosed with terminal pancreatic cancer. An inspiration for
all who read it. Thanks Pastor for donating it.
Coffee Fellowship - PLEASE…there are no
volunteers to provide Coffee Fellowship treats for the entire
month of August. Please sign up…your costs are reimbursed!
Vacation Bible School was finished on July 24. To
see photos click here or go to "Recent Photos."
Circle News - On Thursday, August 21, at noon, Immanuel
Lutheran WELCA invites the women of our congregation to a luncheon
in the Fellowship Hall. Pastor Milner will be leading Bible Study.
Please bring your July/August “Lutheran Woman Today.”
The ladies of their circles will be providing the food, so in
order to prepare, please call the church office at 815-625-3575,
by August 18, to let us know how many will be attending. The offering
will be divided between Eagle Nest Ministry and Lutheran World
Relief to be put towards shipping costs. Old Bibles, all tracts,
flannel graph supplies, Christian books of any kind, etc. may
be brought with you. Please no hard cover books.
August Food Pantry needs: Please bring in boxed cereal,
frozen meats, canned meats and boxed dinners. Your cash donations
are always welcomed. Place items in the baskets located by the
entrances. A volunteer takes them to the FISH pantry.
Your Social Action Committee has designated the month
of August to collect items for School Kits for Lutheran World
Relief. Include the following items in each school kit: *Padded
or spiral notebooks of wide - or college-ruled paper approximately
8" X 10 1/2" totaling 150-200 sheets (if using 70-sheet
notebooks, please include three); do not include loose-leaf paper;
*One blunt scissors (safety scissors with embedded steel blades
work well); *One 30-centimeter ruler, or a ruler with centimeters
on one side and inches on the other; *One pencil sharpener; *Six
new, unsharpened #2 pencils with erasers; secure together with
a rubber band; *One eraser approximately 2-1/2" long; *12
sheets of construction paper in assorted colors (if necessary,
fold in half to fit into the school kit bag); *One box of 16 or
24 crayons; *One sturdy cloth bag approximately 12" X 14"
with cloth handles or drawstring closure. Bags will be provided.
Do not add other items or leave out any of the items listed. All
items should be new and in good condition. Remove any excess packaging
and pack items in the bag, fold the handles over, and secure with
two large rubber bands or tie with yarn. These may be left in
the Fellowship Hall at the church on the designated table. If
you have any questions, please contact Carolyn_Duncan at 815 625-7878.
A list of items can be found on the table in the Fellowship Hall.
The St Paul Heavenly Homers had a winning season!
– maybe not in games won, but certainly in new friendships
and great fellowship. We'll be swinging those bats again next
year – so be sure to join us!!! It was lots of fun for ALL
ages – and everyone gets to play.
Altar Guild is in need of more people to serve,
especially second service. Please contact Jane_Jacoby if you are
